Course Title: Surveying Module 2 – Setting Out

This course has been developed to provide a general overview of basic setting out techniques using manual and electronic equipments. Transfer of design information to produce data for setting out on site.

Course Aims:

The course will give the candidate a brief insight and understanding of setting out principles and equipments. Candidate will gain practical experiences in the use of manuals and electronic equipments to successfully implement coordinated setting out position of points, profiles and batter rails. These will also include on-site calculations and the installation of ‘profiles’ and ‘batter rails’ for trench works, earthworks and road construction.

• Horizontal Distance Measurement
• Levelling Operations
• Determining Angles and Directions
• Electronic Surveying Instruments
• Conversion of Design Information to Setting Out Data
• Coordinated Setting out using Total Station Theodelite (TS)
• Setting out and installing ‘Profile Boards’
• Setting out and Installing ‘Batter Rails’
