Designing e- commerce (online selling) website in WordPress - Web design training course
Duration: 3 Day Course + 2 Day Course Work
Objective of the course: To understand the principles of e-commerce, to design an e-commerce website in word press, configure it according to requirements and to set up the payment process.
Prerequisites: Understanding of HTML & CSS
Course outline:
Day 1
- Introduction to e-commerce and online shopping carts
- Understand the principles of online e-commerce including online gateway, merchant account.
- Understanding a Content Management System (website) and how they work
- Introduction to WordPress
- Introduction to Server technology and MySQL for installation of WordPress
- Download of WordPress and tools and install on local machine for development
Day 2
- Configuring WordPress and understanding the administration layout
- Working with themes, customising them
- Creating webpages
- Working with menus
- Working with plugins, installation and configuration
Day 3
- Installing and configuring e-commerce plugins
- Creating categories and product items for sale
- Steps needed to be taken to deploy a WordPress website
- Other concepts such as Google Merchant Centre, customer reviews
- Basics of SEO (Search engine optimization) for online selling
