An introduction to Road Safety Engineering
The course is designed to inform and train transport professionals in the requirements, methods and procedures required in undertaking road accident analysis and Road Safety Audits in line with the current Road Safety Engineering practices and DMRB standard HD 19/03.
Aims & Objectives:
The course offers an opportunity to gain the required minimum training levels for highways/infrastructure engineers, traffic engineers, urban designers, transport planners and road safety officers in the accident investigation and prevention.
Course Outline: This course aims to provide delegates with the knowledge in the following areas
Accident Reduction:
- Understanding of road accident causation
- Principles of accident investigation
- Accident reduction strategies including single site, area action, mass action and route action
- Case study for a single site
- Economic evaluation of accident sites
- Implementation of remedial measures
