This web design course is tailored to design a an content management system (CMS) website from Word Press, customising Word Press (website) to meet aesthetic needs via themes and functionality needs via plugins. At the end of the course you should have a working website and the know how to maintain it. The web design course is designed for individual who want to learn how to design websites and also for small business owners, freelancers , self-employed persons who need their own web presence.
Prerequisites: Introduction to HTML and Web Design (also taught by Career Change Wales)
Day 1
- Understanding a Content Management System (website) and how it works
- Introduction to WordPress
- Introduction to Server technology and MySQL for installation of WordPress
- Download of WordPress and other tools and installation on local machine for development
Day 2
- Configuring WordPress and understanding the administration layout
- Working with themes and customising them
- Creating webpages
- Working with menus
- Working with plugins, installation and configuration
Day 3
- Installing and configuring SEO modules
- Installing and configuring Contact Form module
- Installing and configuring Picture Gallery module
- Installing and configuring Sliders module
- Installing and configuring Social network modules
- Steps needed to be taken to deploy a word press website
