Course description:
This training course will introduce candidates to the risks and hazards involved with manual handling within healthcare. It will cover the good practices, outlines of what to expect from manual handling assessments. This course will enable employees to safely manually handle individuals and objects and the techniques necessary for this. They will gain an understanding of the risks involved and how to carry out a risk assessment.

- Health & Safety at Works Act 1974 & Regulation 1999 etc.
- Duties of the employer and employees
- Manual Handling – What is it?
- Hazard, injury risk and carrying out risk assessment
- Musculo-Skeletal Disorders (MSD)
- Body Mechanics/Ergonomics
- Using a Patient Lift
- Proper Lifting Techniques
- Good practices
- Workshop/discussion/summary
